Rand Paul, Position Taker Extraordinaire  If you know anything about Rand Paul you probably know about his recent interactions with Doctor Anthony Fauci discussing masks, vaccines, mandates, and both Dr. Paul and Dr. Fauci were exchanging heated words and even a few accusations of crime. Rand has recently promised to investigate Fauci if the Senate goes for the Republicans. Rand Paul is a very up front person. He says what he says and he means what he says. One of the reasons he ran for office was because he was tired of lying politicians and those who were in government to benefit themselves. Because Rand is very up front, I don’t believe he tries that hard to appeal to new voters. Now let me explain: Rand wanted to get into government for his specific things he wanted done (most of them in the name of reducing the size of the federal government). Rand receives high approval from his Kentucky constituents simply by doing what he does. Rand takes positions and stays there, li...

Rand Paul’s Election Status Rand Paul was last elected  in 2016 by 1 million votes to 800,000, winning the election with a 57.3% majority. He did have the incumbent advantage, and the win was pretty clear, with polls saying that the election was a safe red zone. Rand has officially announced he’s running for re-election and the polls are looking similar to the 2016 election, with polling numbers giving him a safe advantage over the democrat front-runner. Below is a graph of campaign finance receipts from the top runners for Paul’s senate seat. Looking at the total money raised, its clear to see Rand Paul has support from everywhere, not just Kentucky. Major Issues Patriot Act Filibuster — On May 20, 2015 Rand Paul conducted an 11 hour filibuster on the renewal of the Patriot Act, where Rand Paul proposed to amend the act rather than simply casting an up or down vote on it. NSA Controversy — In June 2013, Rand Paul considered a class action lawsuit against the NSA over the lar...

Due to the popularity of the 2 parties, it was probably at his best interest to run as a republican rather than a Libertarian. Kentucky as a whole is a very safe Red area, with generally only the big cities like Louisville and Lexington being bluer. Kentucky’s COVID response was fairly minimal, with the original lockdown like everyone else. They then released the lockdowns in June 2021, and lifted the mask mandate in September 2021. And like most states, Kentucky has had a worker shortage, with job openings growing and nobody wanting to take them. As most of you may know, Rand Paul has been a very stro...

Rand Paul Rand Paul : some love him, some hate him; but what else can you expect with a politician? Rand Paul was born January 7th, 1963, (which puts him at 59),  and was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to a Christian family, (a religion of which he still practices today). He attended Baylor University and went on to Duke University School of Medicine, where he trained to be an ophthalmologist. He began practicing ophthalmology in 1993, which is when he found himself living in Kentucky. Throughout his life, he was a firm believer in personal liberty and freedom, and has described himself as a constitutional conservative and supporter of the Tea Party, which is a Libertarian movement that calls for lower taxes and decreased government spending. These long held beliefs brought Rand Paul to the decision to run for office in 2010, where he ran for Senate in Kentucky, winning the position, then going on to win re-election in 2016 (with confirmation he will seek a third term in ...
